I have already bought my ticket, can I apply?
Yes, approved applicants who have bought their own tickets will be reimbursed upon submitting their valid bank information in Canada. If you have bought your tickets before applying for this scholarship, please also provide information about your ticket.
I am an undergraduate student, can I apply to this program?
Unfortunately, this year our scholarship is dedicated to graduate students olny.
I have applied, should I wait for the result before purchasing the ticket?
If you can purchase your tickets, we strongly recommend you to do so. Please let us know after your purchase. We will reimburse successful applicants who have already purchased their ticket.
I have purchased a round trip ticket, how will I get reimbursed?
Our scholarship aimed to support Iranian students to move to Canada for starting their studies. We will pay up to our best estimation of the one-way ticket for that flight. If you have any proof of the price of a one-way ticket for that date, please send the proof, otherwise, we will reimburse a maximum of 60% of the price tag of the round trips.
I am coming in January 2024, can I still apply?
No, unfortunately, this scholarship is only available for students who start their program in September 2023. We hope to continue supporting students with the generosity of our donors. Please wait for our announcement for the next application intake.
What is the deadline for submitting the scholarship application?
The deadline for submitting the scholarship application is July 14, 2023 11:59 PM PST. Late applications will not be accepted, so please ensure you submit your application on time.
How many scholarships will be awarded?
The number of scholarships awarded will depend on the availability of funds and the quality of applications received. While we aim to support as many deserving students as possible, the exact number of scholarships awarded may vary each year.
Will I need to provide proof of financial need when applying for the scholarship?
No, as part of the application process, you will not be required to upload information regarding your financial situation, including any relevant supporting documentation. However, if you think it makes your application stronger, please upload any relevant documents. Please, fill out the financial section in honesty.
Can I apply for the Homa Scholarship if I have already received other scholarships or financial assistance?
Yes, you can still apply for the Homa Scholarship even if you have received other scholarships or financial assistance. However, please provide details of any other scholarships or funding you have received in your application.
How and when will the scholarship recipients be notified?
The scholarship admissions will be conducted on a rolling basis in two to three rounds. The first round of scholarships will be awarded between 2 to 4 weeks post application deadline.
Can I defer my enrollment to a later term and still receive the scholarship?
Deferring your enrollment to a later term may affect your eligibility for the Homa Scholarship. Please contact the scholarship committee for further clarification on the deferral policy and its impact on the scholarship.
Can I apply for the Homa Scholarship if I have not already been admitted to UBC?
No, you can not apply for the Homa Scholarship if you have not already been admitted to UBC. We require the applicants to upload their letter of admission.
